Welcome! My name is Huong Diep (pronounced Hong Depp), and I’m a Wealth Psychologist, Certified Financial Therapist™, and founder of Wealth and Mind. My work focuses on the human dimensions of wealth: how money, culture, identity, family relationships, and life experience shape the way people understand wealth and the role it plays in their lives.
My training in clinical psychology, child and adolescent development, family systems, and financial psychology gives me a distinctive lens on the challenges that can arise around wealth transitions, rising-generation development, family communication, responsibility, and legacy.
As a 1.5-generation Vietnamese American, I was born in a refugee camp after my family fled Vietnam and grew up watching my family navigate economic uncertainty, adaptation, sacrifice, and upward mobility. That history continues to shape my interest in how migration, culture, changing socioeconomic circumstances, and family narratives influence our ideas about money, achievement, security, belonging, and responsibility across generations.
My perspective is also shaped by years of living and working internationally, including extensive experience with the U.S. Foreign Service and globally mobile communities. Fluent in English and Spanish and conversational in Vietnamese, I bring a cross-cultural lens to families whose experiences of wealth, identity, responsibility, and economic mobility may span countries, cultures, and generations.
I’m especially interested in what happens when a family’s financial reality changes faster than its internal story about money.
My work brings a family-systems and cross-cultural perspective to questions of psychological readiness for wealth, preparing the rising generation, communication across generations, financial identity, stewardship, and differing expectations around ownership, responsibility, and legacy.
In 2026, I was selected as one of the American Psychological Association’s 100 Psychologists Rising for my work at the intersection of psychology and wealth. I am also a member of the Purposeful Planning Institute (PPI) and am pursuing advanced training in family wealth through the Family Firm Institute (FFI).
Wealth and Mind provides non-clinical coaching, consultation, education, and speaking and is separate from my clinical practice..
